Robert
Heath, Senior
Ecologist
Rob Heath has worked as
a wildlife biologist in the Tampa Bay area since 1978, starting
as a park ranger at Hillsborough River State Park, then moving
to the Hillsborough County Parks Department in 1981 to
assist with the development of new regional parks. His
responsibilities shifted from environmental education to
land preservation with the initiation of the Hillsborough
County Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program
in 1987. Over the next 15 years, as Hillsborough County
successfully acquired approximately 40,000 acres of natural
preserve lands, he developed and directed the county’s
land management program. Since leaving the county in 2002,
Rob has founded a non-profit environmental organization,
Wildlife Fellowship, Inc. and serves on the board of both
the Tampa Audubon Society (current co-president), and the
Tampa Bay Conservancy (vice president). Rob’s areas
of expertise include management plan development, prescribed
burning, natural history interpretation, native plant landscaping
and resource-based recreation.
Rob Heath has an M.S.
degree in Environmental Biology from Tulane University. He
is an expert in natural areas management, specializing in
management plan development, prescribed burning, environmental
education, and outdoor recreation.
