DiGruttolo, Senior
Ecologist
Laura has worked
as a professional ecologist in the region for over 20 years. She has experience in all aspects
of natural resources management, including land management
planning and implementation—including prescribed fire,
exotic species control, protected species management—habitat
delineation and assessment utilizing various techniques,
wetland and upland habitat restoration, floral and faunal
monitoring, and listed species surveys. Her areas of
specialty include land management planning, floral surveys,
and wetland delineation and management.
Beyond this listing
of her representative experience, Laura has established
a reputation as a proficient plant taxonomist and been
asked to conduct expansive, comprehensive plant inventories
for many of the preserves she has managed. She
has worked for two county governments as an ecologist where
she managed properties, assisted with the implementation
of an environmental lands management program, and initiated
a public outreach program. She also has extensive experience
in all aspects of environmental and land use regulation. Since
joining Wildlands Conservation 2005, she has written land
management plans for natural area parks and newly created
preserves across west and central Florida, conducted listed
species and floral surveys on numerous grant-funded research
projects, played an instrumental role in the review of Developments
of Regional Impact for Central Florida Regional Planning
Council, and has written and edited numerous technical reports,
papers, and presentations. Laura also serves as GIS
Manager for the organization, managing all GIS and GPS data
and information, conducting spatial analyses, and creating
maps and figures for any project need.
